After starting my career as an engineer in the Basque Country, I decided to follow my true vocation: passing on my passion for surfing and sharing the unique energy of the ocean. I started by developing Sorky earplugs (now EQ SEAL), designed to protect surfers without altering the sensations. Then, after five years of innovation and hard work, I swapped company meetings for sessions at high tide.
For over six years, I've been coaching surfers of all levels on the legendary beaches of Hossegor, Seignosse and Capbreton. I teach surfing with a human, personalised approach focused on progress.
Each student is unique: I use the psychology of movement and self-confidence to help you go beyond your limits, while staying connected to the pure pleasure of riding.
With Surf Guides Hossegor, I wanted to create a different experience: a school where you learn, but above all where you live surfing. Whether it's a one-to-one lesson, a half-day coaching session, or a guided session on the best spots in Hossegor, my aim remains the same: to help you discover the magic of the ocean, in a simple, local and authentic atmosphere.

Knowing where, when to surf and how to find your own waves is the hardest part of our sport! Raphaël will use his local knowledge to find the best for you and your level. He'll also take the time to teach you how to do it for yourself so you can have the ultimate surfing experience during and outside of your lessons!
Fun and progress
Fewer students per instructor means more attention and more progress! At Surf Guides Hossegor, private lessons can be taken alone or with up to 2 friends, and group lessons never exceed 5 students. Sessions are available all year round, from sunrise to sunset. You can also join our Surf Club to make regular progress with local surfers.
A tailor-made surfing adventure
Perhaps you've already surfed a lot in Hossegor and want to try something new? You can surf with confidence on your local beach, and want some tips in this new area? Or maybe you just fancy a day (or half-day) trip to score and get away! We offer guided sessions in the Landes and Basque country. Just hop on our mini bus and off you go!
Get off the beaten track safely
The ocean is an unpredictable force of nature. We want you to learn a lot, have a lot of fun and discover new places under the safe eye of your guide. That's why Raphael is safety-trained all year round and will be there with you every step of the way, in and out of the water. Getting up early, watching the ocean, and knowing when each sandbank is working according to the tides, wind, and swell direction is his daily routine! We have our own mini bus which is a great way to change location if necessary.
Availability
The Surf Guides organisation is designed to be flexible and reactive, and Raphaël gives lessons all year round. If he is not available for the lesson or the day you wish to surf with him, Surf-Guides will suggest another instructor, also local, with the same training, equivalent experience and sharing the same values.
